Results from a study just published in Lancet Neurology showed that an investigational blood test being developed by Abbott (NYSE:ABT) could help detect mild traumatic brain injuries even when a CT scan is negative. The company says the test, which detects brain-specific glial fibrillary acidic protein via its point-of-care i-STAT device, may fill a gap in emergency rooms by identifying patients who might otherwise go undiagnosed.
