The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced on Friday that it issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and 36 other Israeli individuals, charging them with "committing genocide."
Among some of the Israeli officials are Defense Minister Israel Katz, Israeli Defense Forces Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir. The prosecutor's office said that the individuals in question have been exercising "systematic violence" against the civilian population in Gaza since October 2023.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been very vocal about his support for the Palestinian people, recently accusing Israel of doing everything in its power to obstruct the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
