Nvidia Corporation Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jensen Huang claimed on Tuesday that the company is "in the process of restarting our manufacturing" of H200 chips, the company's flagship processors for artificial intelligence (AI), for China.
Speaking at a press conference after the company's GPU Technology Conference (GTC), Huang hinted at a change in Nvidia's operations in China and insisted he has "received licenses" for "many" customers from the Far Eastern country. He also insisted that Nvidia has already received purchase orders from Chinese companies.
Huang's remarks followed the United States Department of Commerce's apparent decision to withdraw a draft rule that would have required chipmakers to seek government approval before exporting their AI chips abroad.
