Dow surges 400 pts at open amid weak jobs data

Major stock exchanges in the United States traded with gains at the open on Thursday as the most recent nonfarm payrolls figure, which came in significantly lower than anticipated, seemingly offset worries about higher interest rates. Over in business, Tesla announced that its deliveries in the second quarter of 2026 grew by 2%, standing at above 480,000 units.

The Dow Jones increased 0.55% or 288 points at the open, as Nike gained 3.20% at 9:31 am ET. Not long after, the index extended gains, soaring 0.83% or 435 points at 9:47 am ET. The Nasdaq 100 added 0.08% at 9:30 am ET, with Strategy surging 6.83% a minute later. The S&P 500 rose 0.32% at the opening bell, with Robinhood advancing 6.65% at 9:32 am ET.
