Saudi Arabia has provided Yemen's internationally recognized government with a new budget support payment of more than 224 million Saudi riyals, about $60 million, Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Al-Jaber said on Thursday.
Al-Jaber said the payment was made at the Yemeni government's request and was intended to help maintain government cash flows, support fiscal policy and bolster Yemenis' purchasing power.
He said the support came as Yemen faced attacks by the Houthis on government resources, property and economic interests.
The funding was provided through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, he added.
