‘No Kings’ coverage reveals the nature of corporate media propaganda

Today, Americans will once again be forced to endure a nationwide “psyop” operation in which a small group of far-left political organizations, such as Ezra Levin’s Indivisible, pretends that there is “massive” public opposition to Donald Trump’s enforcement of longstanding U.S. immigration law.

This propaganda effort requires, and indeed is based upon, the active complicity and cooperation of America’s corporate media.

Anyone who has ever attended a political demonstration in person knows how this all works.

In a word: everything is done for the cameras.

Image created using ImageFX.

The “protesters” hold up pre-printed signs, yell and scream on cue, and then, once the TV crews go away, break for lunch.

Although left-wing groups deny it, there are companies that specialize in providing “flash mobs” for media PR events to create the illusion of support for, or opposition to, a given company, product, or political cause.

“There are hundreds of lobbying firms and public affairs firms that do this work, though not all in the same way,” Edward Walker, a UCLA sociology professor who wrote a book on astroturfing, told The Los Angeles Times. “Some only do a little bit of this grassroots-for-hire, but things adjacent to this are not uncommon today.”

In other words, it’s all fake. Fake news and fake political outrage.

The truth is, at least some recent polls reveal that support for Trump’s enforcement of U.S. immigration law is growing, not declining.

For example, a CBS News/YouGov poll found that 54 percent of American adults support the deportation of illegal immigrants, and 51 percent support ICE enforcement actions.

An RMG Research poll reported that a whopping 58 percent back the deportation efforts.

And in an Insider Advantage survey, 59 percent approved of Trump’s decision to send National Guard troops to Los Angeles in response to the protests.

Incredibly, Newsweek reports that “new data shows a growing number of immigrant voters are backing Donald Trump and his hardline immigration agenda—marking a dramatic reversal from past elections.”

But that doesn’t stop violent left-wing organizations, such as Antifa, from staging riots across the country, supposedly to protest Donald Trump’s policies.

Given the reality of the polling, the Democrat-aligned groups organizing the protests have their work cut out for them.

Fortunately for them, the practitioners of political propaganda have long ago worked out a number of manipulative techniques for achieving ambitious PR goals, so long as they have a compliant press corps to help them.

The propaganda techniques include:

  • The Bandwagon Technique: This method suggests that “everyone is doing it” or that a movement is sweeping the nation, even if only a small group is actually involved. It encourages people to join in or support the cause out of fear of missing out or being left behind.
  • Plain Folks Appeal: By portraying protesters as ordinary people just like the audience, organizers and media can make a movement seem more relatable and widespread. Stories of “average citizens” taking to the streets can create the illusion of broad public support.
  • Testimonials: Using endorsements from celebrities, influencers, or respected figures can lend credibility and visibility to a protest, making it seem more significant than it actually is.
  • Guilt-by-Association (or Virtue-by-Association): Associating a small protest with larger, well-known movements or symbols (like the American flag or social justice causes) can amplify its perceived importance and legitimacy.
  • Labeling and Framing: Applying labels such as “grassroots uprising” or “people’s movement” can frame a small event as part of a much larger trend or struggle, even if the actual numbers are modest.
  • Media Amplification: Selective or repetitive coverage by news outlets and social media can make a protest seem much larger or more significant than it is in reality. This includes using dramatic visuals, focusing on crowd shots, and highlighting emotional moments.
  • Disinformation and Misleading Content: Sharing manipulated images, videos, or false claims about the size or impact of a protest can create the impression of widespread unrest or support.

For Saturday’s No Kings demonstrations and riots, these techniques have already been put into place by compliant corporate media.

Corporate news outlets across the country consistently report that the No Kings demonstrations draw participation from “ordinary citizens” with a focus on inclusivity, nonviolence, and grassroots organizing.

For example, PBS NewsHour has already described the No Kings protests as inclusive gatherings where “people of all ages are expected to come together in the protest locations for speeches, marching, carrying signs and waving American flags.”

The Associated Press describes the organizers of the No Kings protests as “a national movement made up of everyday Americans who stand for democracy and against what they call the authoritarian actions of the Trump administration.”

CNN is using the bandwagon technique and claiming that “millions of protesters” are expected to reject “authoritarianism, billionaire-first politics, and the militarization of our democracy.”

(These estimates of attendance are not based on any objective evidence, however, but merely reflect the hopes and wishes of the No Kings organizers themselves.)

The media also consistently use the propaganda technique of “labeling and framing,” portraying the No Kings demonstrations as a “grassroots uprising” or a “people’s movement.”

Rolling Stone Magazine, one of Ezra Levin’s favorite propaganda outlets, explicitly frames the No Kings protests as a “peaceful rebellion“ and a “people-powered movement,” highlighting the involvement of “grassroots organizations” and the aim to mobilize Americans from diverse backgrounds—urban, suburban, and rural—as a counterbalance to Trump’s supposedly authoritarian tendencies.

Axios describes the No Kings events as a “widespread movement” and “nationwide day of defiance,” noting that “more than 100 pro-democracy advocacy groups” are partnering to organize the No Kings events across city blocks, small towns, and community parks.

“No Kings is a nationwide day of defiance. From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we’re taking action to reject authoritarianism,” the supposedly objective news organization claims.

And, of course, the use of celebrity testimonials “to tend credibility and visibility to a protest” – one of the most overused techniques of classical propaganda – is ubiquitous.

The Walmart heiress and billionaire Christy Walton is repeatedly highlighted in mainstream outlets such as Forbes, CBS News, and USA Today for her prominent support of the No Kings protests.

She placed a full-page advertisement in The New York Times urging participation in the nationwide demonstrations and is described as “one of few billionaires publicly opposing Trump.”

In the end, though, all these propaganda techniques will ultimately fall flat.

The controlled corporate media will portray the No Kings protests as an overwhelming success—democracy at its finest!—yet average Americans already know the truth.

As for the No Kings protests themselves, the Democrats and their Antifa allies already tried that approach in the 2024 election, insisting that Donald Trump is a dictator and that “democracy itself is on the ballot.”

The result was an overwhelming Trump victory in which Trump won a narrow but clear popular vote lead, a sweep of all major swing states, and notable gains among men, Latino men, and Black men.

Propaganda has its limits.

With reports that Iran’s senior leaders are fleeing, what comes next? UPDATED

Israel’s war against Iran may prove to have been such a successful decapitation action that it goes down in the annals as one of the shortest wars in history. I say this because there are reports that Iran’s leadership class is fleeing en masse. There’s also reason to believe that Israel fought this war not to conquer Iran but simply to oust the mullahs, allowing the Iranian people to choose a better government, so Israel had no interest in leveling the country. If the leadership class abdicates, let’s hope the Iranian people choose wisely this time around.

Here’s the latest information about the leadership class getting out while it still can:

Of course, the war is a long way from over. Iran’s military class is threatening to rain 2,000 missiles on Israel (and, unlike Israel, which aims at military targets, Iran aims at civilians). However, the Israeli military does not seem too worried:

UPDATE: Since I published the post, Iran has launched a massive barrage of missiles against Israel. Keep Israel in your prayers:

And now back to the original post.

What’s been clear from the beginning, as I said above, is that Israel does not intend to level Iran. [UPDATE: If Iran is going to try to destroy Israel, Israel will be forced to respond in kind.] That would take enormous resources and turn Israel into the kind of evil empire the left likes to say it is. More than that, Israel knows that the Iranian people hate their government.

Indeed, Daily Wire’s Hank Berrien writes that there’s a theory that the very name of Israel’s action against Iran—“Rising Lion”—is a covert message to the Iranian people to take their country back from Islamic extremism and become a Persian kingdom once again:

The Israelis named the mission “Operation Rising Lion,” derived from Numbers 23:24, in which the prophet Balaam — who was hired by King Balak of Moab to curse Israel, but was directed by God to bless Israel instead — declaimed of the Jewish people, “Behold! The people will arise like a lion cub and raise itself like a lion.”

But the imagery of a lion rising may also have tremendous significance for the people of Iran — the flag of Iran for four centuries before the Islamic regime took over in 1979 was a lion with the sun rising on the stripes of green, white, and red. The Islamic regime replaced the lion with a stylized version of Allah and the phrase “Allahu Akbar” along the edges of the green and red stripes.

The big question, given that the regime is on the run and Nature abhors a vacuum, is who will fill that vacuum. The parties that have been the most vocal governments in exile are the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK) and Reza Pahlavi, the eldest son of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran. The former group is communist, and Pahlavi, obviously, is a monarchist, the heir to a monarchy that allowed a level of liberty inconsistent with the Mullah’s religious fanaticism.

It's an interesting tug-of-war: Communist, monarchists, or a continuation of Islamism, only with different leaders. The Iranian people will definitely have a say in this.

My guess—and this is only a guess—is that they’ve had a snootful of religious fanaticism. They’re not going back to a theocracy anytime soon.

If they’re wise, they’ll avoid communism. That leaves a return to the monarchy or a different path altogether, one that tries to thread the needle between a secular government and a Muslim population.

At the very least, the Iranian future is going to be interesting.

Oh, and while this has nothing to do with future events in Iran, this is fascinating:

As I said to friends, it’s awesome when Israelis manage to do this to help destroy Iran from within. It’s way less awesome to know that, because of decades of carelessness and collaboration, America’s geopolitical enemies have been doing the same to us.

China issues draft guidance on transfer of car-generated data

China on Friday published draft guidance to regulate the export of data generated by cars in the country, providing a potential roadmap for companies such as Tesla that have been keen to do so.

The industry ministry detailed different scenarios where it may or may not require security assessments for companies seeking to transfer data abroad.

For example, it said data collected in China for training and developing autonomous driving or advanced driving assistance systems was categorised as 'important' data that would require approvals for outbound transfers, according to the drafted rules that are open to public comment until July 13.

It granted some exemptions, for instance to data processing companies registered in the country's free trade zones, saying that they would not require approval to transfer abroad any data that had not been classified as restricted by the free trade zone.

Tesla has been seeking approval from Chinese regulators to transfer data collected from its fleet of more than 2 million EVs in China, currently saved locally in Shanghai, back to the United States for training its autonomous driving algorithms.

The U.S. also does not allow Tesla to train its AI software in China, a situation chief executive Elon Musk has described as a "quandary", which undermines the performance of its Full Self-Driving software on Chinese roads.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a request from Reuters for comment on the drafted rules.

Boeing trims projection for 20-year jet demand

Boeing expects global demand for air travel to increase by more than 40% by 2030, driving the need for thousands of new jetliners in the next few years, according to its 20-year demand forecast for commercial airliners released Sunday ahead of the Paris Airshow.

The company expects demand for 43,600 new airliners through 2044. That is essentially the same as last year's edition, which projected demand for 43,975 new deliveries through 2043.

European rival Airbus last week revised up its own 20-year commercial demand forecast by 2% to 43,420 jets, saying the air transport industry was expected to ride out current trade tensions.

Boeing's delivery projection includes nearly 33,300 single-aisle airliners, just over 7,800 widebody jets, 955 factory-built freighters and 1,545 regional jets. Single-aisle jets include the 737 MAX and competitor Airbus's A320neo family and make up roughly four of every five deliveries now.

While Boeing's deliveries projection is roughly the same, it pared down its 20-year forecast for passenger traffic growth from 4.7% in last year's outlook to 4.2% this year. Likewise, it lowered its global economic growth forecast from 2.6% to 2.3%, cargo traffic growth from 4.1% to 3.7% and fleet growth from 3.2% to 3.1%.

Despite the lower projection for cargo traffic, Boeing Vice President of Commercial Marketing Darren Hulst told reporters in a briefing that trade volatility is not expected to significantly shift long-term demand.

"I think we need to point back to the perspective that the last 20, 40, 60 years have given us in terms of the value of air cargo, and the fact that it's roughly a 4% growth market through all this time," he said.

Since COVID-19, air travel demand has bounced back, but airplane production is only half or even less than what it was before the pandemic, resulting in a shortage of 1,500 to 2,000 airliners, he said.

Both Airbus and Boeing have struggled to return aircraft production to pre-pandemic levels. Boeing has been dealing with production safety concerns following a 2024 mid-air blowout of a panel on a nearly new Alaska Airlines 737 MAX. As a result, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration capped 737 production at 38 airplanes a month.

Boeing has significantly improved production quality in recent months, but the crash of an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on Thursday put it back in crisis mode. CEO Kelly Ortberg cancelled his plans to attend the Paris Airshow in order to assist with the crash investigation.

Global air travel is projected to increase by more than 40% by 2030, compared to the pre-pandemic high, according to the forecast.

During the next 20 years, Boeing expects about 51% of demand for new aircraft to come from growth rather than replacing older airplanes.

China and South/Southeast Asia, which includes India, are expected to account for half of that additional capacity, according to the outlook. North America and Eurasia account for more than half of projected deliveries for replacing older aircraft.

China makes up an estimated 10% of Boeing's existing order backlog. The country paused taking delivery of new Boeing aircraft as China and the U.S. clashed over tariffs. However, deliveries are expected to resume this month, Ortberg said in May during an investors conference.

Texas State Capitol evacuated over ‘credible threat’ as protesters gather nationwide for ‘No Kings’

“No Kings” protests rallying against Trump exploded in New York City and across the country on Saturday, the same day as POTUS’ military parade in Washington, DC — and his 79th birthday.

Rally-goers turned out in most major cities, while Minnesota officials urged residents to stay home after a “politically motivated” attack left a lawmaker and her husband dead. The suspect, who was on the run, was carrying “No Kings” flyers in his car before the deadly shooting.

In New York City, 50,000 people marched down Fifth Avenue alone, while protesters also flooded the streets of Brooklyn and Queens, carrying signs and umbrellas on a stormy Saturday.Tens of thousands of Big Apple 'No Kings' protesters blast Trump, ICE: 'Think while it's still legal'

Demonstrators came out in droves in Manhattan waving critical signs and chanting "Dump Trump" and "immigrants are welcome here" along Fifth Avenue Saturday, with some likening the president to a "tyrant."

"Trump is trying to stop all resistance, suppress any opposing speech — we can't have that in our democracy," said Dan Filor, 52, who was carrying a sign that said "B-Day Military Parade Club" with photos of Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

"He's trying to stop universities, he's trying to stop immigrants, he opposes anyone who has anything opposite to say and that's now how America works," Filor, a lawyer, continued.

"He has his parade today, but that's not what we're doing. We're doing democracy, we're not doing authoritarianism, tyrant, we know the people that do those."

New Jersey resident Lisa Doula, 53, said the policies the Trump administration has carried out nationwide are "really scary."

"In terms of sending military out against civilians, people getting picked up by masked unidentified law enforcement and potentially getting deported — so I need to do something," she said.

Manhattan resident David Rogers, 72, held a sign that said "Think while it's still legal."

"Everything is becoming illegal," Rogers said.

"All things that are normal and necessary, and thinking is hopefully not the last to go."

More than 20,000 march 'peacefully' in San Diego

More than 20,000 demonstrators hit the streets in downtown San Diego Saturday for a series of “No Kings” protests that authorities went off “peacefully."

Two major rallies – one at Civic Center Plaza and another at Waterfront Park – began around 10:15 a.m. local time, and a total of 11 rallies were planned throughout the county, local media reported.

The San Diego Police Department said there were no arrests.

“Our motorcycle officers are managing rolling closures as the group moves — helping protect protesters and minimize traffic impact,” the SDPD said on X. “Thank you, San Diego, for keeping it peaceful.”

LA protest crowds exceed 20,000 people during 'No Kings' demonstration: 'mostly peaceful'

More than 20,000 protesters flooded the streets in downtown Los Angeles to rally against President Trump and the Army's 250th parade during the city's "No Kings" demonstration.

City officials said the large crowd has been "mostly peaceful," but warned that the influx of demonstrators has hindered first responders' ability to reach people in need.

"Firefights, paramedics, and law enforcement are having a tough time accessing the crowd if someone needs help," UnifiedLA posted on X.

"If you are seeking medical attention or the help of law enforcement, we're asking that you step outside the crowd and be aware of your location. This will help us respond as quickly and safely as possible."

The LAPD also reassured residents that there is no threat to the City of Angels following the horrific shooting in Minnesota Saturday morning.

"At this time, there is no intelligence suggesting similar threats to our area of responsibility," the LAPD said in a statement, according to NBC News.

"We remain vigilant in our efforts to protect public safety."
