Trump: Navy to escort tankers to keep Hormuz open

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the United States Navy will begin escorting tankers through the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible, framing the move as necessary to protect maritime trade.

"If necessary, the United States Navy will begin escorting tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, as soon as possible. No matter what, the United States will ensure the FREE FLOW of ENERGY to the WORLD. The United States' ECONOMIC and MILITARY MIGHT is the GREATEST ON EARTH — More actions to come," Trump said on Truth Social hours after Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps threatened to attack any ship attempting to cross the strait.

The statement comes as vessels cluster near the chokepoint and insurers raise premiums or limit war-risk cover, increasing pressure on shipping lines and energy traders reliant on the passage.

Kalshi, Polymarket Face Trading Halt In Nevada After Court Rulings

  by Zoltan Vardai via CoinTelegraph.com,

Two US federal court rulings have increased the risk that Nevada regulators may seek to halt prediction-market trading in the state after a judge sent a dispute involving Polymarket’s parent company Blockratize and Kalshi back to state court in two separate rulings.

A federal judge rejected arguments that US regulation under the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) fully preempts state gaming laws for prediction markets, according to a Monday order.

The judge found that the CEA’s savings clause does not completely displace state authority and that the companies had not shown a basis to block Nevada’s action at this stage.

The decision means the Nevada Gaming Control Board can continue pursuing its civil enforcement case in state court, where it could seek an injunction restricting Nevada residents from accessing event contracts offered by Polymarket or Kalshi.

In response to the ruling, Polymarket’s parent company submitted a motion to request a brief administrative stay of the court’s remand order, the filing shows.

The motion is a legal request seeking to freeze a court ruling or enforcement action seen as a short-term emergency measure.

Prediction markets face mounting pressure after Nevada ruling: Lawyer

The Nevada decision comes as prediction markets face mounting pressure from state regulators, including Kalshi, which has been fighting Nevada’s gaming regulator since 2025.

On Tuesday, a federal judge also remanded Nevada’s civil enforcement action against Kalshi back to state court, exposing Kalshi to an “imminent temporary restraining order” barring it from offering event contracts in the state, according to a court filing seen by sports betting and gaming-focused lawyer Daniel Wallach.

“The ruling could embolden other states to sue Kalshi in state court and seek injunctions to block event contracts, a strategy that has so far succeeded in every case brought,” wrote Wallach, in a Tuesday X post.

Kalshi sued the state of Nevada in March 2025 after receiving a cease-and-desist order to halt all sports-related betting markets within the state.

However, in February, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit denied Kalshi’s bid to stop Nevada’s gaming regulator from taking action on its sports event contracts.

Insider trading concerns add to scrutiny

The legal fight is unfolding as prediction markets draw scrutiny over information advantage and potential insider activity.

Suspected insider wallets netted $1.2 million by betting on the outcome of blockchain sleuth ZachXBT’s investigation into Axiom, Cointelegraph reported on Friday.

ZachXBT released the much-anticipated investigation on Thursday, alleging that Axiom employee Broox Bauer and others had been responsible for insider trading activity since early 2025.

Insider trading concerns were first highlighted in January after a Polymarket account profited $400,000 after it placed a bet on a contract predicting that Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro would be captured, wagering the funds just hours before US forces captured him during a military operation.

Earlier in February, Israeli authorities arrested and indicted two people suspected of using secret information related to Israel striking Iran for insider trading on Polymarket.

US Launched Kamikaze Drones Against Iran, Reflecting Lessons Learned From Ukraine

In the first 72 hours of Operation Epic Fury, U.S. forces conducted more than 1,700 strikes across Iran on high-value IRGC military assets and leadership. These strikes relied heavily on air-delivered munitions, including bombs, air-launched rockets, and missiles deployed from stealth fighter jets, stealth bombers, fourth-generation fighter jets and bombers, as well as guided-missile destroyers.

Notably, U.S. Central Command indicated the operation also marked the first combat use by the U.S. military of one-way kamikaze drones, a newly added capability likely shaped by lessons drawn from four years of high-intensity warfare in Eastern Europe.

"For the first time in history, it is using one-way attack drones in combat during Operation Epic Fury. These low-cost drones, modeled after Iran's Shahed drones, are now delivering American-made retribution," U.S. CENTCOM wrote on X.

OISNT account on X OSINTdefender published footage of what appears to be one of the Low-Cost Unmanned Combat Attack System (LUCAS) US drones used in the operation that crash landed.

OSINTdefender noted, "Locals in Iraq appear to have recovered a crashed and almost entirely intact Low-Cost Unmanned Combat Attack System (LUCAS), an American copy of the Iranian Shahed-136 Attack Drone, which is confirmed to have been used recently by Task Force Scorpion Strike during U.S. attacks on Iran as part of Operation Epic Fury."

Whether in Iran or Eastern Europe, the rapid proliferation of low-cost kamikaze drones has permanently altered the battlefield. Four years of war in Ukraine have made it clear to military planners and weapons manufacturers worldwide that these inexpensive, mass-produced drones are no longer optional, but are increasingly pivotal in changing the economics of war.

Cost Plus Drugs partners to give hospitals easier access

Bluesight, a hospital software provider, has partnered with GraphiteRx to integrate marketplace data, including the catalog of Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs, into its platforms for drug price checking, purchasing and shortage management.

The integration will enable hospital pharmacy teams to view Cost Plus Drugs pricing alongside traditional wholesaler options within their existing procurement workflows, according to a March 3 news release. The added visibility is intended to help hospitals reduce drug spend and manage shortages by expanding access to alternative medication suppliers, the company said.

According to Bluesight’s “Hospital Pharmacy Operations Report,” reducing drug spend is a top priority for 77% of hospital pharmacies and drug shortages are the most pressing operational challenge for 75% of pharmacy leaders. The company said customers using its price-checking and purchasing product, CostCheck, are have saved up to 4% on drug spend annually.

The collaboration is designed to bring greater pricing transparency and sourcing flexibility to hospital supply chains as margins tighten and shortages persist, Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs and GraphiteRx said. The two companies recently expanded their partnership to support the Cost Plus Marketplace for Businesses, which combines Cost Plus Drugs’ pricing model with GraphiteRx’s marketplace technology and includes tools to identify savings opportunities, measure financial impact and integrate pricing insights into clinical decision-making.

State orders NYU Langone to restore gender care for youth

The New York State Attorney General has ordered New York City-based NYU Langone Health to restore its transgender youth health program, less than two weeks after the hospital said it was discontinuing the program for adolescents.

“You are hereby advised to immediately resume all service offerings as they had before the change in policy and to make medically necessary puberty-blocking medications and hormone therapies available for patients under 19 who are diagnosed with gender dysphoria,” an official with Attorney General Letitia James’ office wrote in a Feb. 25 letter to NYU Langone, according to a March 2 report from The New York Times.

Five things to know:

1. On Feb. 17, NYU Langone confirmed it had closed its transgender youth program, which provided puberty-blocking medication and hormone treatments to adolescents. In a statement at the time, the hospital cited “the current regulatory environment” as a factor in its decision to discontinue such services.

2. In its letter to NYU Langone, the state attorney general’s office indicated that the closure may violate New York anti-discrimination laws by prohibiting a certain group of patients from receiving treatments that others still have access to. The letter notes that puberty blockers and hormone treatments are still available for pediatric patients who are not transgender.

3. The letter also directs NYU Langone to notify the attorney general’s office that it has complied within 10 days and threatens regulatory action if it does not comply. Specifically, the letter mentions the potential for an investigation. A spokesperson for NYU Langone declined to respond to the Times‘ request for comment. Becker’s has also reached out to the system and will update the report if more information becomes available.

4. Many hospitals and health systems across the country have stopped providing gender-related care for patients younger than 19 in response to pressure from the Trump administration. In December, HHS proposed new rules to pull federal funding from any hospital that provides gender transition care to minors.

5. The attorney general’s office, however, stated that the proposed rules hadn’t gone into effect.

“NYU Langone’s change in policy is self-imposed,” the letter states, according to the Times “There has been no change in federal law to require the cessation of medically necessary transgender health care.”

Demand for nonclinical roles in healthcare drops: Indeed

As healthcare drives U.S. job gains, not all roles within the industry are seeing increased demand.

Demand for nonclinical roles within healthcare organizations is declining relative to demand for healthcare-specific roles, according to a March 3 report from Indeed, which draws on data from the platform’s job listings.

Nonhealthcare-specific roles comprised about 35% of job postings from healthcare organizations as of January — a drop from 43% at the beginning of 2018.

According to Indeed, the trends suggest the industry’s ability to welcome workers from other industries may increasingly rely on training them for healthcare-specific roles.

One area affecting employment across industries is artificial intelligence, which could remain a concern for employees in nonhealthcare-specific roles within healthcare organizations. AI has already reached hospitals and health systems, Sunil Dadlani, executive vice president and chief information, digital and cybersecurity officer of Morristown, N.J.-based Atlantic Health System, told Becker’s in August.

“From clinical-decision support to revenue cycle automation, AI is already augmenting workflows, accelerating diagnosis and streamlining administrative tasks,” Mr. Dadlani said. “Roles in medical coding, documentation, scheduling and even elements of diagnostics are increasingly supported — or replaced — by intelligent systems.”

Here are three additional notes from the Indeed report:

1. After reaching a post-pandemic low in March 2022, healthcare and social assistance jobs have increased at nearly double the pace they did between 2010 and 2020.

2. The two sectors added 690,000 jobs across the nation in 2025 and now employ about 15% of the total U.S. workforce.

3. Overall employment in hospitals and physicians’ offices grew by 2.1% and 2.4%, respectively, in 2025 compared to 2024.
