A gauge of Chinese stocks in Hong Kong edged toward a bear market as trading resumed after a holiday, weighed down by weak consumption data.
The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index dropped as much as 2.2%, taking its decline to nearly 20% from its Oct. 2 high. Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. and Xiaomi Corp. were among the biggest drags on the gauge.
