Meta Platforms Inc. halted an internal artificial intelligence training program after a companywide leak exposed sensitive employee data, Business Insider reported, citing screenshots and a company spokesperson.
The program, known as the Model Capability Initiative, was designed to collect keystrokes and mouse activity from staff to improve Meta's AI systems. However, screenshots obtained by the media outlet showed that private conversations, performance records and transcriptions were accessible across the company.
"We have carefully designed this program with privacy safeguards, and while we have no indication at this time that any data was improperly accessed by Meta employees, we're pausing it while we investigate," a Meta spokesperson said. The breach was classified as a SEV 2, with 1 being the most severe.
