Major payment firms said to launch stablecoin platform
Visa Inc., Mastercard Inc. and Stripe Inc. are preparing to launch a stablecoin platform, CoinDesk reported on Wednesday, citing three people familiar with the matter. The sources did not reveal further details about the platform, and the payment companies did not comment.
According to the report, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase Global Inc. is also considering involvement in the platform.

'Sam Altman to attend G7 summit in France
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will attend the G7 summit in France at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, the company told CNBC on Wednesday. The summit will take place from June 15 to 17 in Biarritz.
OpenAI Chief Global Affairs Officer Chris Lehane said that "the expectation is that he will be engaging in the leaders-level conversation at the G7."

ADP: US private payrolls up by 122,000 in May
Private payrolls in the United States increased by 122,000 in May, Automatic Data Processing Inc. (ADP) revealed in its report published on Wednesday. The figure came in above expectations and hit a 16-month high.
New hirings were registered in enterprises of all sizes. Most people, 49,000, were hired in small establishments with between one and 19 employees, followed by large companies with over 500 workers, which reported 40,000 new workers. Small enterprises with between 20 and 49 employees added 18,000 jobs. Mid-sized establishments with between 50 and 249 employees hired 10,000 people. Mid-sized firms with between 250 and 499 employees registered 7,000 new workers.
Among sectors, most new jobs, 57,000, were added in education and health services, followed by trade, transportation, and utilities with 36,000, and professional and business services with 11,000. Meanwhile, information saw 9,000 layovers.
Iranian drone attack destroys Kuwait airport, causing multiple injuries as Iran, US traded strikes
Iran launched a devastating overnight drone attack on Kuwait’s international airport, killing one person and causing widespread damage just days after it reopened following earlier attacks.
Officials in Kuwait confirmed that one person died and 63 others were injured — many seriously — in the barrage that forced the airport to suspend all commercial flights.
Videos posted on social media show the smoked-out airport smoldering and covered in debris after the Iranian strikes, which officials said targeted Kuwait International Airport’s Terminal 1, which is used by international airlines.
A “number of hostile drones” caused extensive damage at the airport, which had just reopened on Monday after closing in February due to previous Iran strikes, Kuwait Defense Ministry spokesperson Brig. Gen. Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi said.
The injured included passengers and staff.
Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said it would “neither accept nor tolerate” the attacks — and warned that it reserves the right to respond against Iran’s offensive.
The strikes came as Iranian outlets reported the country had stopped communicating with mediators about extending a ceasefire in the war with the US and Israel.
President Trump disputed that claim and insisted the talks, complicated by Israel’s expanding war in Lebanon with Iran-backed Hezbollah, were progressing.
Late Tuesday, the US military confirmed it had launched strikes on an Iranian military facility in retaliation for Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait and Bahrain.
Iran had fired two missiles at Kuwait that fell apart en route, while US and Bahraini forces intercepted missiles aimed at Bahrain, US officials said.
Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard said it had targeted the headquarters of the US Navy’s 5th Fleet in Bahrain and another country in its attack, without naming Kuwait.
The attack was in response to the US firing a missile into the engine room of an oil tanker that was trying to reach Iran despite the US blockade.
“We had previously warned that in case of aggression, the response would be different and more severe, and we acted accordingly,” the Guard said in its statement.
Bahrain’s military had intercepted and destroyed three missiles and a number of drones fired by Iran at the Gulf island country, according to its Defense Ministry.
US Central Command said that Iranian drones targeting American forces in Kuwait “failed to impact intended targets tonight” and that US air defenses “successfully downed multiple drones and ensured no American personnel or assets were harmed.”
