ADP: US private payrolls up by 122,000 in May

 Private payrolls in the United States increased by 122,000 in May, Automatic Data Processing Inc. (ADP) revealed in its report published on Wednesday. The figure came in above expectations and hit a 16-month high.

New hirings were registered in enterprises of all sizes. Most people, 49,000, were hired in small establishments with between one and 19 employees, followed by large companies with over 500 workers, which reported 40,000 new workers. Small enterprises with between 20 and 49 employees added 18,000 jobs. Mid-sized establishments with between 50 and 249 employees hired 10,000 people. Mid-sized firms with between 250 and 499 employees registered 7,000 new workers.

Among sectors, most new jobs, 57,000, were added in education and health services, followed by trade, transportation, and utilities with 36,000, and professional and business services with 11,000. Meanwhile, information saw 9,000 layovers.
