Qatar has ordered a "temporary suspension" of "all maritime activities," according to a statement posted by the Ministry of Transport on X on Monday, citing safety concerns.
Through an "Important Notice", the ministry urged "owners and users of maritime vessels, including leisure boats, fishing boats, jet skis, and all other maritime vessels, are advised to temporarily suspend sailing and all forms of maritime activities … until further notice." It added that vessels operating under international maritime conventions are exempt.
The move follows a separate announcement on Sunday, which confirmed that "one Qatari national died from injuries sustained during 'military operations in the area'." It has not been confirmed whether the incident involved shrapnel from Iranian drones.
