Pelosi's daughter posts video 'in California district to 'CURE ballots'' as GOP candidate's lead tumbles

Nancy Pelosi's daughter said she was 'curing' ballots in a California congressional district where the Republican candidate saw his lead drop by hundreds of votes in recent days.

Christine Pelosi, one of the former House speaker's four daughters, posted a video Tuesday saying she was traveling to the Golden State's 13th congressional district, where the race between Republican John Duarte and Democrat Adam Gray has tightened.

'My life, my love is curing ballots with my friends, I can't wait to get on the road the again,' the 58-year-old is heard singing to the tune of Willie Nelson's classic.

Duarte leads Gray by just 227 votes, down from nearly 2,000 on Monday.

The race could prove crucial to Republicans' ability expand their majority in the House, after already managing to flip the Senate.

Ballot 'curing' refers to the process of allowing voters the chance to fix minor errors with their mail-in ballots to avoid them being discarded.

These can include voters failing to sign their ballots or enter voter ID information.

California is one of eight states that sends vote-by-mail ballots to all registered voters.

Christine, a Democratic strategist who served as assistant district attorney for the sexual assault and child abuse unit in San Francisco, shared the post across several of her social media accounts, raising eyebrows among critics of the practice.  \

Posts to the political strategist's Instagram show how she has volunteered across multiple districts over the past two weeks, seeking to reduce Republicans' House seats.

Currently, the party has 218 - just enough to meet the majority threshold.

If Gray continues to gain ground, that could change - as volunteers and election workers continue to look at mail-in ballots.

The Duarte-Gray race is one of two congressional contests in California that remain too close to call.

The battle between Republican Rep. Michelle Steel and her challenger, Democrat Derek Tran, in Orange County's 45th district is the closest in the entire country.

On Friday, the incumbent Steel had led the race by 58 votes.

That flipped over the weekend, with Tran's lead growing to 314 votes as of Tuesday.

The tightening has spawned unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud.

Elon Musk, who is poised to advise Trump on how to downsize the government, re-shared a post on his social media platform, X, alleging California was 'corrupt as hell.'

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, meanwhile, claimed California Democrats are 'stealing a House seat right out from under us' in reference to the Steel-Tran race.

Christine, who also served as the special counsel for the Department of Housing and Urban Development under President Bill Clinton, was on the ground for that race as well.

Additionally, a social media post last week showed her with other election workers in California's 41st district, which ultimately went to the Republican despite being a tight race.

In it, Christine is seen watching an address from her 84-year-old mother, who concluded her second term as speaker at the end of last year.

In her posts since, she has made it clear she is not giving up on the two remaining races.

'Soon I'll embark on a listening tour re my pro-grassroots DNC resolution and vote for DNC Chair + officers.'

As of Wednesday, votes were still being tallied.
