The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced it will lift the export ban on Illumina Inc. (NASDAQ: ILMN) on November 10, according to a company statement. The ban had been in place since March 4, 2025.
The DNA sequencing company remains on China's Unreliable Entities List, which requires government approval for instrument purchases. Illumina stated it continues working toward a resolution regarding its inclusion on this list.
"We are pleased with the announcement from MOFCOM, which is a very positive step forward," said Jacob Thaysen, CEO of Illumina. "Illumina will continue to engage with authorities and stakeholders as we work toward a long-term resolution."
The company maintained its fiscal year 2025 guidance, which was updated during its third-quarter earnings call. Illumina has operated in the Chinese market for two decades, providing genomics technology to customers in research, clinical, and applied markets.
The San Diego-based company develops DNA sequencing and array-based technologies for applications in life sciences, oncology, reproductive health, and agriculture sectors.
