Outgoing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's Office Head Andriy Yermak stepped down just a day before he was meant to travel to Miami for meetings with US President Donald Trump's advisers Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on the proposed peace plan, Axios reporter Barak Ravid said on Friday.
His resignation follows the announcement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Ukraine’s anti-corruption agency opened a probe into Yermak, prompting searches at his home over alleged involvement in a major bribery scheme. Yermak, long considered one of Zelensky’s most influential figures, had been central to ongoing contacts with Washington as Kyiv seeks a diplomatic path out of the conflict with Russia.
Zelensky said senior military leaders will now represent Ukraine in talks with the United States, stressing that the government must avoid errors at a crucial moment for the country.
