Microsoft, Meta, Google and Apple were among 13 companies that received a warning from a bipartisan group of state attorneys general regarding their artificial intelligence chatbots.
In a letter, the state leaders expressed concerns that the chatbots’ "delusional outputs" could potentially violate state laws. The warning specifically targeted the AI systems developed and deployed by these major technology companies.
The attorneys general did not specify which state laws might be violated by these AI outputs, but their bipartisan action signals growing regulatory scrutiny of artificial intelligence technologies across the United States.
The warning comes as AI chatbots have become increasingly integrated into consumer products and services offered by these technology giants.
