Germany, Ukraine sign €1.2 billion defense deal

Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said on Wednesday that his government signed a series of deals with Germany worth a total of €1.2 billion. It will include a long-term supply of spare parts for air defense Patriot systems, a €200 million procurement of Ukrainian drones and a joint drone manufacturing project, €750 million in funding for the production of 200 Ukrainian 2S22 Bohdana howitzers, as well as contracts to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electronic warfare systems.

Shmyhal said that Germany intends to allocate €11.5 billion for military aid to Ukraine in 2026. He added that Ukraine "especially values" the transfer of the two promised Patriot systems and the ninth IRIS-T air defense system.
