The United States Indo-Pacific Command raided a ship carrying military cargo from China to Iran last month, the Wall Street Journal reported. According to officials familiar with the matter, the vessel was intercepted in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Sri Lanka.
One of the sources said the shipment contained dual-use items that were "potentially useful for Iran’s conventional weapons." The operation was allegedly based on intelligence suggesting that the cargo was heading to "Iranian companies that specialize in procuring components for its missile program."
