If Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey were a normal mayor, he'd be advising his citizens to cooperate with federal authorities who may be conducting legal immigration enforcement operations. It would be no different from a statement from him to citizens to follow federal authorities' directions in a snowstorm or a hurricane.
But this is wokester Jacob Frey, who was last seen doing nothing when his city was set alight by George Floyd rioters.
This is him telling ICE agents, in imitation-Obama intonations, that they could get killed in his city if they dare do their jobs enforcing immigration law:

Frey: I am increasingly concerned because of the chaos that is being caused by these ICE agents that somebody is gonna get seriously injured or killed.
[Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz behind him bobs head up and down like a bobblehead.]
Somebody is going to get seriously injured or killed.
And whether that is an ICE agent or a community member, we all know the tinderbox that could explode because of it.
We all know that the federal government is looking for reasons to deploy more and more people to Minneapolis and to blue cities around the country. We all know that we cannot afford to lose a single Minneapolis resident because they [points] showed up and decided to protect their neighbors. Because they showed up and decided to express their constitutional right to free speech.
And so, that concern is deep. It is held by the way, not just by me, and our residents, and the people who are standing up behind me. The concern about gettin' somebody killed is also held by our police officers.
Where's his warning to interlopers who interfere with ICE operations, which is a federal crime?
No, his warning is exclusively directed at ICE officers who are legally required to do their jobs and sweep out illegal aliens.
It's clearly a dog whistle to rioters -- perhaps Somalis, who are a violent bunch likely to be rounded up as illegals by ICE or perhaps antifa, likely to be rounded up for interfering with federal enforcement operations -- to attack ICE agents. Notice that his tears and flapdoodle about 'community members' getting killed does not extend to federal officers, who he said earlier also could get killed, yet are far more likely to get injured or killed by Frey's rioters than the other way around.
It's as if he's calling for another riot. And with his clearly directing the 'warning' at ICE, it's a very irresponsible statement at a minimum, suggesting that he has no idea how to keep his city thugs under control. Actually, they can be controlled, but with a statement like this, he's signalling that doesn't want them to be controlled. He wants them out there interfering with federal lawmen under the phony rubric of 'constitutionally guaranteed free speech' instead of staying out of the way, which they are legally required to do.
In the worst scenario, it's possible he's suggesting that his city's thugs go kill.
Federal authorities should look into this veiled threat against federal lawmen and come suited up with the maximum defensive firepower.
Frey should resign over his lawless implied call to injure and kill.
