'Newsom will attend Davos with plans to rip Trump and woo global business elite'

California Gov. Gavin Newsom will be making the roughly 6,000 mile journey this week from the Hollywood Hills to the Swiss Alps to rip into President Trump at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

“Trump’s economic agenda betrays our nation: it is not ‘America First’ but ‘Trump First’ — rewarding the favored, punishing the dissenters, and burdening the rest,” Newsom said in a statement.

“At the World Economic Forum, I will forcefully confront these abuses and resolutely defend the principles to which California owes its economic strength: disciplined governance, world-leading universities, boundless innovation, and an open embrace of global cultures.”

Newsom, largely seen as a top presidential contender, was scheduled to speak on Thursday, one day after Trump was set to take the stage.

Politico was the first to report Newsom’s trip.

The California governor plans to confront Trump’s political and economic worldview, and push the global business elite to stand up to corruption “or be complicit in the collapse of Democratic capitalism,” Newsom’s office said.

“The Governor will be bringing an extra suitcase of kneepads for anyone lining up to bend the knee to Donald Trump,” A spokesperson for Newsom told The Post.

Newsom’s online store is selling red knee pads for $100 with Trump’s signature.

Kush Desai, a White House spokesperson, pushed back, telling The Post that “the last thing world leaders in Davos need is an expert lesson from Gavin Newsom about how to increase crime and worsen affordability.”

Newsom used to be a frequent flyer when it comes to Davos — attending the forum a handful of times between 2004 and 2009, according to The Sacramento Bee.

The 56th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in the Swiss Alps features business elite and government heads from across the world.

This year’s theme, exploring how cooperating can be renewed amid contested norms, comes during heightened geopolitical tensions with the US and European countries.

Over the weekend, Trump said he will impose a 10% tariff on eight European countries who voiced opposition to American control of Greenland.
