Renee Good was shot and killed by ICE agents in Minneapolis on January 7th. According to Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, “She was a compassionate neighbor trying to be a legal observer on behalf of her immigrant neighbors.” An important takeaway from Ellison’s statement is the term “legal observer.” This role was created by the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) which is what Democrats call themselves in Minnesota. The DFL offers training for a Constitutional Observer. This position was created by the DFL to observe and record activities of ICE agents or any other group they deem observable. In simple terms, a legal observer is a protestor that has received specific indoctrination from the DFL. Legal observers may enjoy some special status in the propaganda apparatus of the Minnesota DFL but have no legal standing under the law.
Good was using her vehicle to block a road at a location where ICE was working. An ICE agent ordered her to get out of her vehicle. Instead of complying, she chose to back up and then accelerated forward, hitting an ICE agent with her vehicle in the process. Upon impact, the agent shot and killed her. Vehicles have often been used by ICE protestors to impede and injure ICE agents as they perform their duties. The agent who shot Ms. Good was previously injured when an illegal alien dragged him 100 yards with his vehicle to avoid being taken into custody. ICE agents are understandably anxious when approaching vehicles driven by belligerent individuals. All police are.
The Minnesota Democrat Party organizes, trains, and directs protestors. Instructions regarding how to participate are on the party’s website. The site has links to the Immigration Defense Network (IDN) and Indivisible Twin Cities. “The IDN’s rapid response strategy maintains helpline infrastructure, deploying observers, and organizing public demonstrations.” Protestors are choreographed by progressive ideologues and activists in conjunction with the Democrat Party which nourishes and grows the grievance industrial complex. These protests are often violent, resulting in looting, destruction, and death.
Democrats created the current immigration crisis by allowing millions of aliens to enter the country illegally in the halcyon daze of the Biden Administration. They promptly tapped into the welfare state, engaged in criminal behavior, took American jobs at reduced wages, and drove up the cost of housing. Democrats are willing to undermine the security and well-being of the American people to secure political power.
The U.S. census counts everyone in the country, including illegal aliens. The census apportions the number of representative each state receives in Congress and allocates electoral votes in presidential elections. Democrats are counting on the aliens they herded into the country to become citizens and vote for the party that let them in, made all the benefits of the welfare state available to them, and happily indoctrinated them in Democrat propaganda.
Democrats are befuddled and disappointed that Americans elected their nemesis, Donald Trump, as President. One of the reasons Trump was elected was to deport the millions of aliens the Democrats are counting on to ensure their political power. He has directed the Department of Homeland Security to secure the border and remove people who entered the country illegally. Democrats and their allies in the media contend the American people didn’t sign up for mass deportations, but Trump clearly expressed his intention to deport the millions of aliens who are in the country illegally during his 2024 campaign.
Blue state politicians have calculated that ignoring immigration law is the path to permanent power. Democrats developed the concept of sanctuary cities and states to serve this purpose and is the framework which allows them to ignore federal immigration law.
When ICE agents recently arrived in Minnesota to enforce the law, state and local police should have cooperated with federal authorities to assure the laws of the United States are followed. Before ICE arrives in a city, federal, state, and local authorities should work together and develop strategies to assure the work ICE is engaged in will go as smoothly as possible. State and local law enforcement might be expected to manage traffic and crowd control.
The Democrat Party governs the state of Minnesota and won’t allow the police to protect its citizens by cooperating with ICE. The party is complicit in recruiting, training, and organizing protestors to rapidly respond to the movements of ICE. As an observer, Good was trained to engage with ICE for the purpose of disrupting, impeding, and obstructing their work. This engagement led to her death. Democrats violated federal immigration law when they opened the border to illegal immigration, and they continue to break the of law by obstructing the law enforcement efforts of ICE.
Imagine a person, a libertarian, who believes that speed limits on highways are an unreasonable assertion of government power. Suppose this person drives by a police officer who has stopped someone who exceeded the speed limit and is writing them a citation. What if the libertarian pulls his vehicle in front of the officers’ vehicle to block it then gets out of the car banging a drum and screaming profanities while stating that speed limits are unconstitutional and the police have no authority to enforce them. There is no outcome to this imagined situation that would end happily for the libertarian or the police officer.
When Democrats tell their supporters that federal agents have no authority to enforce federal law and send them to locations to disrupt their work, they are intentionally putting their supporters and the police in difficult situations where bad things are bound to happen. They are tacitly authorizing their supporters to ignore the rule of law because the law defies the will of the Democrat Party to collect and concentrate political power.
Some Americans were surprised and aghast a few years ago when Democrats across the country supported the defund the police movement. Be assured that Democrats are completely in favor of strict enforcement of laws they support but will undermine any law that threatens or restricts their pursuit of power. They will obstruct any police effort to enforce a law that threatens them. If this results in injury, death, damage, or destruction, so long as their perverse cause is moved forward, they don’t care.
Americans who believe in justice and the rule of law should buckle up. Neither the Democrats nor their grievance industry are going anywhere. They are barreling down the path to political power as fast as they can and will run over anyone or anything that gets in their way. The death of Renee Good is the result.
