UK's Cooper: Britain to double troops in Arctic region

 British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper announced on Monday that the United Kingdom is to double its marine troops in the Norwegian Arctic region.

While briefing the House of Commons on Greenland and wider Arctic security, Cooper declared that the UK will raise the number of marines in the region from one thousand to two thousand over the span of three years. Furthermore, she affirmed that the UK will participate in a range of exercises in the North Atlantic throughout 2026.

"And whether it be on Greenland, on tariffs, or on wider Arctic security, we are clear in our views, firm in our principles and steadfast in our commitment to safeguarding UK interests," she concluded.
