NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte acknowledged on Sunday that the alliance cannot verify the claim about the unconfirmed missile launch by Iran reportedly directed at Diego Garcia, something Tehran has initially denied.
"We cannot confirm that at the moment," Rutte stated on CBS, noting that the matter remains under assessment. When pressed on whether Iran possesses the capability to strike European capitals, he offered no definitive conclusion, instead referencing the need for continued evaluation.
"But if it is true, it means they already have that capability. If it is not true, we know they are very close to having that capability," he insisted. The rockets allegedly failed to reach Diego Garcia.
