Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun said on Friday in a message to Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Qassem that "the Lebanese people are not your people."
In an interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour, Aoun insisted that Qassem does not represent the Lebanese people after the latter rejected a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon. The people of Lebanon "deserve not seeing their homes destroyed every five to ten years," he noted.
Furthermore, the Lebanese president also criticized Iran for using his war-torn country "as a bargaining chip in their negotiation with the US." He emphasized that Iran is not trying to help Lebanon since the two countries' interests "do not coincide." "It's not your country, it's our country," Lebanon's leader sent a message to Tehran.
