The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Wednesday that sirens warning of a hostile aircraft infiltration were activated in the northern Israeli settlement of Zar'it, near the Lebanese border, adding that the incident was under review.
The alert came hours after the Israeli military ordered evacuations in three towns in southern Lebanon ahead of planned operations. The move followed reports that Israel and Lebanon had begun negotiations aimed at reducing tensions. Iran has said any agreement with the United States would require Israel to halt strikes in Lebanon.
Separately, the IDF said it killed Ahmed Abu Mughaysib, described as the "head of a rocket-launching cell in the Islamic Jihad" movement, in southern Gaza. The military also reported overnight strikes on Hamas operatives in central Gaza, saying one was killed and others were hit while allegedly preparing attacks against Israeli troops.
