Air alerts were activated across northern Israel amid "the intrusion of hostile aircraft," the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Thursday, adding that details are being investigated.
Sirens sounded shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu left the area. He ensured that the country "is committed to the security of the residents of the north." Meanwhile, the IDF said the incident was over, and residents can now leave shelters. At the same time, multiple social media posts claimed that projectiles fired by Lebanon-based Hezbollah were shot down over the Israeli town of Metula.
The tensions come after it was revealed that Israel and Lebanon have reached a deal on the implementation of a ceasefire, and Hezbollah described talks between the two countries as "shameless" and a "farce."
