Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign has been plagued by tensions after it assembled a “Frankenstein”-like team of competing factions, a new report says.
The team — made up of Harris aides, Barack Obama alumni and leftovers from President Biden’s abandoned campaign — are said to be struggling with cohesiveness behind the scenes, Axios reported, citing six people involved in the campaign.
“The entanglement of these different entities has led to many people feeling a real lack of role clarity,” one source said.
Harris’ team, which retained a number of key people from the Biden campaign, has reportedly been wary of making the Biden officials not feel as though they’ve been sidelined.
With multiple power centers at play, the sources said there was some confusion “two or three rungs down” about who was actually in charge.
Those involved in the campaign, however, are hoping that the fast-approaching election won’t allow time for any tensions to come to a head.
“It’s just a mad dash,” one source said. “Things are colliding occasionally, but it’s not malicious.”
Another insisted that the team would be fine — despite the clunky arrangement — because the Harris campaign believes it can beat former President Donald Trump.
The Harris campaign declined to comment on the reports.
