United States President Donald Trump called for a review of immigration from Afghanistan under former US President Joe Biden after two National Guard members were shot near the White House by an Afghan national who Trump claimed was "flown in" to the US in 2021.
"We must now re-examine every single alien who has entered our country from Afghanistan under Biden," Trump said, urging the removal of any individual who "does not belong." Trump criticized legislation signed by Biden that extended the suspect's status, saying the policy created risks for national security.
He also pointed to broader concerns, claiming past policies brought "20 million unknown and unvetted foreigners from all over the world" and warned that no country can "tolerate such a risk" to its survival.
