Russian President Vladimir Putin's foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov claimed on Monday that United States leader Donald Trump was "shocked" by Ukraine's alleged attempt to strike Putin's residence in the Novgorod region with long-range drones.
Speaking to the press, Ushakov stated that Putin and Trump had another "friendly" phone call, during which the latter spoke about his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He said that Kiev's reported attack attempt happened just after Trump and Zelensky's talks ended. According to Ushakov, Putin warned Trump that Ukraine's move will not "go unanswered." Furthermore, Ushakov claimed that Ukraine could use any progress Trump and Zelensky reached during their talks to try to evade some of its obligations.
Previously, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned that Moscow would revise its negotiating position following the attempted attack on Putin's residence. Meanwhile, Zelensky denied that Kiev made such a move.
