'Zelensky: Elections would require ceasefire'

 Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday that holding elections in Ukraine would require a ceasefire, at least during the whole process.

"Ukraine is not hiding from democracy, but to make elections possible, there must be a security component and America can help with this the most," Zelensky said during a meeting of the "Coalition of the Willing" earlier today. "This is something that needs to be discussed," he stressed and added that Ukraine "believes that America should talk to the Russian side about this."

Last week, the Ukrainian president declared that he is "ready" to hold elections, after which United States President Donald Trump noted that Ukraine hasn't had elections "for a very long time."
