AstraZeneca plc acquired Modella AI, a biomedical artificial intelligence company specializing in life sciences, strengthening its research in oncology. Modella AI announced on Tuesday that its expertise in developing AI tools for healthcare professionals will now be part of the pharmaceutical giant's operations.
The acquisition will integrate Modella AI's technology into AstraZeneca's global oncology R&D, enhancing clinical development, biomarker identification, and data-driven decision-making across the pipeline.
"The acquisition of Modella AI provides state-of-the-art frontier pathology foundation models and AI agents that will continue to enable the development of targeted therapeutics along with diagnostics in our oncology portfolio," Chief of AI for Science Innovation at AstraZeneca Jorge Reis-Filho noted.
