Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Corina Machado said her meeting with US President Donald Trump went "very well," even calling it "excellent," Cadena Ser reported on Thursday. "We are counting on President Trump for Venezuela's freedom," she stated after leaving the White House, following talks that lasted over two hours.
In addition, El Pais said she declined to say whether she handed Trump the Nobel Peace Prize, as she had previously suggested she might.
After leaving the White House, Machado briefly greeted Venezuelan demonstrators gathered nearby before heading to Capitol Hill to meet US senators and members of Congress.
