United States Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that restrictions on air traffic in the Caribbean airspace will be lifted at midnight ET. Earlier on Saturday, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) restricted the airspace in the Caribbean and Venezuela to ensure safety as the US military carried out an operation that resulted in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
Duffy said that airlines have been informed and will update their schedules quickly. According to CNN, hundreds of flights were cancelled or delayed due to the restrictions.
