Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi reiterated on Wednesday that Tehran will charge fees for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Saudi news portal Asharq.
Iran previously said it was working to implement a new legal regime in the vital waterway, following conflict with the United States and Israel. In addition, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced it had allowed 11 Indian ships to transit the strait, adding that it was working to allow more vessels through.
Earlier today, Tehran estimated that the control of the waterway would double the country's oil income.
