XPeng talking buying plant in Europe with Volkswagen

 Guangzhou Xiaopeng Motors Technology Co., Ltd., better known as XPeng, is discussing the possibility of purchasing a factory in Europe with different local carmakers, including Volkswagen AG, the company's managing director of northeastern Europe, Elvis Cheng, told the Financial Times (FT) on Wednesday.

At the outlet's Future of the Car summit, Cheng remarked that XPeng could also build its own factory on the Old Continent. "We think not all the factories can satisfy the requirements of our latest or future product requirements," he said, noting that Volkswagen's plants are "a little bit old."

In 2023, Volkswagen invested $700 million in a partnership with XPeng, which stipulated a joint development of electric vehicles (EVs) in China.
