Iran's central army command said on Monday that strikes on Israel have been suspended for now, but warned it would resume operations if "hostile actions continue," including in southern Lebanon.
The military underscored that it had delivered a "powerful blow" against Israel in response to its actions in Lebanon. Previously, United States President Donald Trump demanded that both nations "stop shooting" and subsequently announced they were seeking an immediate ceasefire.
At the same time, the latest round of escalation in the Middle East between Israel and Iran threatened to spill into the Red Sea, after the Yemeni Houthis closed the vital Bab el-Mandeb Strait to Israeli shipping.
