The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that its air force attacked "military targets" in western and central Iran, hours after United States President Donald Trump said he would urge Israel not to retaliate for Iran's strikes.
The attacks took place "a short time ago," the IDF's brief statement on X said on Monday local time. Iran's Mehr news agency reported "some terrible noises" in Tehran, while the country's semi-official Fars News said on Telegram that explosions were heard "in parts of Tehran, Isfahan and Tabriz."
Iran launched its first missile strikes on Israel since April on Sunday, after an Israeli attack on Beirut. Trump said the assault didn't change his desire to conclude negotiations with Tehran and stressed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "won't have any choice" but to agree to any deal that the US and Iran reach.
