The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Saturday that it operates against Hezbollah rather than the Lebanese Armed Forces, following a strike that killed two Lebanese army officers and a soldier in southern Lebanon.
"The IDF operates against the Hezbollah terrorist organization, not against the Lebanese Army," the military said in a statement on Telegram. It added that an initial inquiry indicated that two officers and a soldier were inside a vehicle struck near Tebnit.
According to the IDF, the vehicle was identified moving toward Israeli soldiers in an active combat zone where the military had received "concrete indications" that Hezbollah planned to direct fire at its troops. The IDF said the incident remains under review and that "lessons will be learned accordingly."
