United States President Donald Trump instructed the new acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI), Bill Pulte (pictured), to start mass firings at the country's intelligence community, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.
In an interview with the media outlet that was released earlier today, Trump disclosed that he told Pulte that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, which supervises 18 federal intelligence agencies and units, is "unnecessary and too big."
"Frankly, it might be good for him [Pulte] to shake it up before people come. Because, if he reduced the size, in conjunction with me … and in conjunction with possibly the person coming in … he can do a lot of the hard work, and we wouldn't have to saddle somebody that goes in," Trump argued, emphasizing that the new acting director is "less shackled."
