Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that he saw "no point" in meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky only because of his open letter, responding to a question from the panel moderator at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
Asked whether he would meet the author of the letter, Putin said, "I see no point," arguing that any meeting should come after experts work toward long-term arrangements, and said both sides first "need to arrive at the solution."
He also said he had only briefly reviewed the letter, which Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov showed him the previous day. He said age was "not the most important thing" for a political leader and questioned Ukraine's stance on US President Donald Trump's administration as a possible peace guarantor.
