Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Shahin stressed on Sunday that any acceptable political solution to the conflict with Israel must include all Palestinian territories in a single framework, "leading to the realization of an independent Palestinian state." She pointed out the limited success of the current ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, citing reports that almost 10 Palestinians are still killed daily.
Shahin also raised the issue of Israel withholding Palestinian tax revenues, warning that it will lead to "the collapse of essential services, such as education and healthcare, and will increase the likelihood of an explosion in the West Bank." She committed to reforming the Palestinian Authority and insisted that it must be involved in the reconstruction of Gaza from the outset "to ensure the unity of the administrative system between Gaza and the West Bank."
