Spain's Health Minister Monica Garcia shared during a press conference on Monday that MV Hondius, the hantavirus-hit cruise ship, left the Port of Granadilla, in Tenerife.
"The ship has just set sail after evacuating passengers and crew from 23 countries. Mission accomplished. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. We continue working to protect public health," she stated.
World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus added that the vessel was now headed towards Rotterdam, with about 30 people, the crew, and two health professionals on board. "They will still need our support throughout their journey ... The risk is low, this is not another COVID ... I hope you will continue to show compassion to fellow citizens," he commented.
