Approximately 30 Japanese companies are supposedly considering investing in a new venture by SoftBank Group Corp. in domestic artificial intelligence infrastructure, Nikkei Asia reported on Wednesday.
The media outlet claims that a number of them are leading companies in the chemicals, robotics, automotive, and electronics sectors to compete with the US and China in terms of AI.
The Japanese bank launched the new AI project back in April, and ten businesses are expected to make a final decision in June. Each of them is anticipated to make modest investments, allegedly totaling tens of millions of yen.
