The United Arab Emirates' Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday that it "strongly" condemns Iran's "terrorist" attack on an oil tanker linked to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), which was hit by two drones while it was passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Emirati ministry claimed that the attack was a "flagrant violation of the UN Security Council resolution 2817, which affirmed the importance of freedom of navigation," and criticized the targeting of commercial vessels. It added that Iran's use of the waterway for economic coercion and "blackmail" is an "act of piracy" and that it threatens the stability of the entire region.
