US Secret Service: One person shot near WH

 The United States Secret Service Office of Communications announced on Monday that law enforcement shot an individual in a shooting that occurred at the corner of 15th Street and Independence Avenue in Washington DC, near the White House.

In a social media post, the Secret Service said that its members are on the site, investigating what it described as an officer-involved shooting. It noted that the condition of the shot individual is currently unknown. Furthermore, the service warned the public to avoid the area while a response is ongoing.

Previously, it was reported that the White House was on lockdown as shots were heard nearby.
