French President Emmanuel Macron has blamed the US war on Iran and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz for rising energy prices and a worsening cost-of-living crisis in France.
“The core of what is triggering this purchasing power crisis is the war in Iran, the blockade of Hormuz, the rise in fuel prices,” Macron said in an interview with French YouTuber HugoDécrypte.
France is facing nationwide protests that began with high school students demanding better learning conditions but have since been fuelled by broader anger over rising living costs.
