146K unaccompanied migrant minors located in US under Trump: DHS

Nearly 146,000 unaccompanied migrant minors who were, according to the Department of Homeland Security, part of 450,000 kids illegally smuggled across the U.S-Mexico border during the Biden administration have been located since President Donald Trump took office, DHS officials announced Thursday.

Although almost 300,000 minors smuggled across the border remain unaccounted for, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin praised a joint effort between DHS, ICE and the Department of Health and Human Services for finding the migrant minors. Mullin pledged to find those responsible for the human smuggling rings and bring them to justice.

In many cases, those children were abused, assaulted and exploited during the process of being trafficked across the border by criminal sponsors, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said.

Those criminals, working with Mexican drug cartels to move the children across the border, often sponsored multiple migrant children, Blanche said, which required them to lie to U.S. government officials, claiming they were close relatives of the children being trafficked into the country.

Those individuals, known to federal prosecutors as “super sponsors,” often used fraudulent forms of identification and made false claims to government officials to gain custody of the children once they were in the United States.

Blanche announced the indictments of three Guatemalan nationals living in Ohio, who federal prosecutors claimed worked as super sponsors, meaning they were connected to more than three migrant minors trafficked into the U.S.

The three immigrants are allegedly connected to more than a dozen cases of smuggling migrant minors into the U.S., the attorney general said.

Blanche said the Department of Justice is currently tracking 15,500 super-sponsor cases connected to hundreds of thousands of migrant minors smuggled into the country between 2021 and 2024.

“I think I’m stating the obvious, but when the government fails to protect our borders, it is the most vulnerable who suffer,” Blanche said in a news conference Thursday.

Biden administration ‘turned a blind eye’: DHS Secretary Mullin

Mullin pinned the blame for the trafficking of migrant minors on the Biden administration. Mullin, who replaced Kristi Noem as DHS Secretary earlier this year, described the cases as “horrific” and said the Biden administration was guilty of “true neglect at best and criminal at worst” in allowing the trafficking of migrant minors to take place.

Mullin accused the Biden administration of “turning a blind eye” to criminal behavior by illegal immigrants.

He also said the previous administration allowed unvetted sponsors to take custody of those minors. He also claimed the Biden administration failed to conduct wellness checks on those children after they were placed in the custody of sponsors.

“President Trump has made it a point to go find these kids,” Mullin said, adding he would “move heaven and hell to go find these kids.”

Pressed for evidence that the Biden administration knowingly allowed migrant minors to be placed into the custody of unvetted sponsors, Blanche says “it can’t be disputed” that senior administration officials knew this was happening.

“There were individuals occupying positions of leadership in this country that knew this was happening and either didn’t care, encouraged it or a little bit of both,” Blanche said, saying he wasn’t indicting anyone in the previous administration, but was instead saying there was an “incredible dereliction of duties at best.”.

Mullin said in many cases, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and its Homeland Security Investigations unit along with Customs and Border Protection, are responsible for locating the missing migrant children. Mullin said DHS is investigating claims the minors were allegedly raped 600-700 times.

He said one-third of girls smuggled into the U.S. were likely sexually assaulted before they reached the southern border.

“I don’t care who you are. I don’t care if you have kids, don’t have kids, I don’t care if you’re a liberal, you’re an Independent, you’re a Democrat, you’re a Republican, if you can’t stand for law enforcement to go find these kids, who are you?” Mullin told reporters.

Mullin alleges many unaccompanied children found in ‘sanctuary’ cities

Mullin claimed most of the unaccompanied minors were being found in “sanctuary” cities, which have remained under constant attack by the Trump administration. Mullin specifically targeted New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani for not allowing federal immigration agents and officers into the city and accused the mayor of harboring and abetting criminals.

Without presenting a definite timeline, White House border czar Tom Homan said this week he would surge ICE officers into New York. Homan blamed New York Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul for not working with federal officials to allow ICE to go into places like New York.

Hochul has pushed back against those criticisms and said while state officials have worked with federal officials to go after criminals, she has taken certain steps against ICE, which she said has “been trampling on the basic rights of Americans, including here in the state of New York.”

The Office of Refugee Resettlement did not immediately return a request from NewsNation seeking to verify where those located under the Trump administration were located.

Mullin said that the 146,000 children who have been located were found through a series of processes, including standard wellness checks at addresses where minors were sent. In some cases, the children were found to be in good health and with sponsors who are in the United States legally.

In other cases, however, Mullin said minors were found to be in the custody of criminal sponsors who are now facing federal charges. Some of those sponsors were found to be part of labor or sex trafficking rings and Mullin said minors placed in the custody of those individuals have been transferred to legal and vetted sponsors.

What has changed with sponsor vetting under the Trump administration?

Angie Salazar, the acting director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement, said the agency was referred an average of more than 300 unaccompanied children per day for four years during the Biden administration. ORR is responsible for the placement and care of those who are placed in the custody of sponsors

Salazar that the placement process should mirror the American foster care system, in which potential foster parents undergo rigorous background checks and vetting. But Salazar said that migrant minors were often placed into the custody of sponsors “who were rarely seen” and sent to addresses which were never visited or verified.

Salazar said that since 2025, ORR has reviewed more than 81,000 addresses that were used repeatedly to place migrant children and where more than 76,000 mandatory safety checks were never conducted. She alleges that in more than 97,000 cases, background checks of sponsors were never run and that in many cases, fingerprinting and other identification verification processes were never followed.

Under the Trump administration, Salazar said that ORR has overhauled its verification systems and has removed loopholes used in the past. She said that DNA testing is now required when a sponsor claims to be a family member of the migrant being placed.

The agency is also verifying financial information and visiting the addresses where children are being sent to ensure the safety of children being placed.

Earlier this year, NewsNation reporting partner Border Report found that hundreds of unaccompanied migrant children continue crossing the border from Mexico, with the highest numbers heading into South Texas since the start of this fiscal year.

Blanche, the acting attorney general, said Thursday that the country is no longer facing a “widespread” issue with unaccompanied minors. However, he said federal issues are dealing with “a crisis” caused by what Trump officials have characterized as an “open border policy” under former President Joe Biden.

“There’s still a tremendous amount of work yet to do,” Blanche said.

Mamdani’s only making his Puerto Rican Day debacle worse

Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s clueless approach to the National Puerto Rican Day Parade keeps getting worse.

First, his office sent out an email canceling the traditional Gracie Mansion reception, offending all the Puerto Rican and other Latino community leaders who’d normally attend.

Then his team “revived” the event with a pre-parade luncheon planned for Friday, but mainly invited younger radicals in good standing with his Democratic socialist movement — dissing most directors of the parade committee as well as dignitaries in from Puerto Rico.

Another diss: A mayoral aide announced Mamdani would prioritize marching with “working-class New Yorkers” — implying that the older types have lost touch with the real community.

All this as the mayor has thrown his weight behind Democratic socialist challengers in two House races in predominately Hispanic districts.

He’s backing lefty loon Darializa Avila Chevalier over Rep. Adriano Espaillat: Strike 1.

Worse is his support for Assemblywoman Claire Valdez over Brooklyn Beep Antonio Reynoso — who happens to be the choice of retiring Rep. Nydia Velazquez, perhaps the most respected political figure in the city’s entire Latino community and a Lifetime Achievement honoree at the Puerto Rican Parade.

We hear that state Sen. Luis Sepulveda and other prominent Puerto Rican electeds and community leaders will now boycott anything Mamdani puts together.

He may well have infuriated fellow lefty Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, too: She’s besties with Velazquez, because she understands she can learn from leaders who’ve broken ground (and ceilings) before her.

We won’t try to get into other angles here — Borinqueño vs. Dominican, lifelong New Yorkers vs. imports from Florida or Texas: The key is that the mayor’s operation seems bent on offending everyone who’s not a full-fledged fellow traveler.

Arrogantly making needless enemies is a good way to make yourself a one-term wonder boy.

Hegseth’s D-Day speech gave Europe a spot-on warning – be smart or be invaded

 by Miranda Devine

War Secretary Pete Hegseth gave a great speech on D-Day in Normandy.

He told the Europeans they were committing civilizational suicide by allowing themselves to be “invaded” by unassimilable migrants.

It was the kind of warning you give to a friend who you see is making a terrible mistake.

“Sadly, today different European beaches are stormed by different dangerous ideologies,” he said in northwestern France during commemorations for the 82nd anniversary of the June 6, 1944, landings of American and other Allied troops on the beaches of Normandy to liberate Europe from Hitler’s dangerous ideology.

On “beaches in Spain and Italy and Greece and Bulgaria, boats and men arrive …

“When will European capitals do something about that invasion? Or is it too late?”

Naturally, he was pilloried by out-of-touch elitists on both sides of the Atlantic.

But Hegseth was absolutely right, and his weekend comments echo earlier, ever more forceful warnings from Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Europe’s greatest challenges are self-inflicted — existential civilizational decline caused by unprecedented mass migration and a coinciding loss of confidence in Western values, or what Vance calls “self-hatred.”

Two terrible murders currently dominating UK news effectively demonstrate the points being made by these American statesmen.

The murder of Henry Nowak

The 18-year-old, baby-faced freshman university student was stabbed to death in Southampton, England, by Vickrum Singh Digwa, a British Sikh who filmed and taunted Nowak as he lay dying.

But when the DEI-brainwashed police arrived, Digwa, 23, lied that he was the victim of a racist attack, and they believed him.

The cops ignored Nowak’s obvious physical distress and pleas that he couldn’t breathe and had been stabbed.

“I don’t think you have, mate,” said one callous cop as they handcuffed the dying man.

The last words Nowak heard were a cop reading him his rights as his killer smirked nearby.

Police bodycam footage, released earlier this month after Digwa was convicted of murder in the December attack, has inflamed a populace sick of successive political leaders from both major parties who have thrown them to the wolves.

Attempted beheading of Stephen Ogilvie

Exactly 48 hours after Hegseth’s Normandy warning, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, a Sudanese illegal immigrant-turned-“asylum seeker,” Hadi Alodid, 30, brutally stabbed and slashed Ogilvie, 44, in the middle of the street in what witnesses and video footage described as an attempted beheading.

Ogilvie, who lived next door to a taxpayer-funded apartment into which Alodid had just moved, reportedly lost his left eye and was hospitalized with serious wounds to the head, face and neck.

Again, gruesome bystander video of Alodid straddling Ogilvie as he slashed at the victim’s head and neck triggered violent anti-immigration protests across Europe from people fed up with the thousands of similar barbaric attacks on defenseless men and women since feckless political leaders flung open their borders, just like President Joe Biden did to America.

In the US, the brutal rape and murder of Jocelyn Nungaray, 12, Laken Riley, 22, Rachel Morin, 37, and Kayla Hamilton, 20, at the hands of Biden’s illegal-migrant invaders forever stand as a rebuke to the Democratic Party’s twisted priorities.

America found its antidote to open borders in President Trump, who sealed the southern border in record time and is trying against all odds to deport Biden’s illegal aliens and speedily building the wall Trump promised the first time he was president, which the Nancy Pelosi Congress blocked.

But European political elites seem deaf and blind to rising public concern about illegal migration, with no relief in sight.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer cares more about censoring anyone who criticizes the country’s catastrophic mass-migration experiment than about protecting its citizens.

Starmer was especially annoyed when Vance in a post on X last week condemned Britain’s handling of the Nowak murder.

Vance said Nowak would still be alive “if the last few generations of European elites had stood their ground against the politics of self-hatred and the mass invasion of migrants, many of whom despise the West and the people who love it …

“Henry Nowak died the same way a civilization dies: abandoned, handcuffed by authorities who neither trusted nor cared for him, and accused of hate crimes he did not commit.”

Starmer’s response was a statement blasting those who are “trying to interfere in our democracy and seeking to stir up division on our streets.”

But Vance’s lament was not an isolated criticism from America.

It echoed a pointed statement by the State Department on Nowak’s treatment: “Ideological conditioning and two-tiered policing are glaring symptoms of civilizational decline. They must be rejected across the West …

“The United States sends our condolences to the family of Henry Nowak and the people of the United Kingdom at this troubling time.”

It was a continuation of a warning the United States has been issuing to Europe since the beginning of the Trump presidency.

‘Dangerous delusion’

Rubio told the Munich Security Conference in February that the “dangerous delusion [of] a world without borders” is destabilizing Western civilization and eroding national sovereignty.

“We must [regain] control of our national borders, controlling who and how many people enter our countries,” he said.

“This is not an expression of xenophobia. It is not hate. It is a fundamental act of national sovereignty [and crucial] to the survival of our civilization.”

America is fighting its way back from the brink, but our own battle for civilization is far from over.

You just had to watch valiant Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Texas) in the House Oversight Committee this week grilling an immigration activist who organized a protest that closed the Manhattan Bridge at rush hour to understand the stubborn resistance from the left.

Gill asked Chris Newman, legal director of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, about “shutting down one of the busiest bridges in the nation in order to push for a $500 million fund to give taxpayer-funded unemployment benefits to illegal aliens; do you think that’s a good thing for our country?”

Newman feigned ignorance.

“I don’t know what you mean by ‘illegal aliens.’ ”

Then he told Gill that the border was “secure” under Biden: “That’s my belief.”

Trump may have shut down the border for now, but the dangerous ideology that drove Biden’s border invasion lives on.

Dozens of whistleblowers sounded alarm on Minnesota fraud, Walz team silenced them

In the end, the most appalling thing about the ballooning US social services fraud scandals is the eager collusion of state officials in robbing the public by the billions — with Minnesota the early prime example.

Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday asked the Justice Department to investigate and perhaps prosecute Gov. Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison and other high officials over the evidence laid out in a devastating House Oversight Committee report on benefit fraud in Minnesota.

The committee documented how more than 30 whistleblowers tried to sound the alarm on fraud, only to be silenced by the Democrats running the state — e.g., with explicit orders to “stop looking into” obvious fraud because the folks in charge feared being labeled “racist or Islamophobic.”

Governor Tim Walz (Democrat of Minnesota), testifies during the United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform hearing titled “A Hearing with Sanctuary State Governors” in the US Capitol in Washington, DC, US, on Thursday, June 12, 2025.

Worse, the state Department of Human Services actually investigated state workers who called out the fraud — tracking their phones, photographing their cars and even collecting personal info such as their children’s schools.

A worker who emailed that she knew of noncompliant contracts approved by management that put “DHS funds at risk” found herself labeled “disruptive” and put on investigative leave.

Hotlines and other ways of supposedly reporting fraud anonymously turned out not to be, as workers’ confidential reports wound up being cited by HR as cause for discipline.

Walz and Ellison claim they had no idea any of this was going on — not the fraud, not the refusal to investigate it, nor the crackdowns on state workers who exposed it.

But the 205-page House report says otherwise, for example detailing Walz’s refusal to act on erupting fraud issues and even ordering investigators to stop looking into Child-Care Assistance Program fraud.

That fraudsters stole billions in taxpayer money in just this one state is outrageous — but that the officials elected to protect the public sided with the fraudsters is just obscene.

Priority Review to Adjuvant Atezolizumab Plus Chemotherapy for Stage III dMMR Colon Cancer

The FDA has accepted and granted priority review to the supplemental biologics license application (sBLA) for atezolizumab (Tecentriq) and atezolizumab/hyaluronidase-tqjs (Tecentriq Hybreza, Roche) in combination with chemotherapy as adjuvant treatment for patients with stage III mismatch repair–deficient (dMMR) or microsatellite instability–high (MSI-H) colon cancer following surgical resection.1

A target action date of October 9, 2026, has been set by the FDA for the application under the Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA). If approved, the combination would represent the first immunotherapy-based adjuvant regimen available for this molecularly defined patient population.

Meta, X to Face Moratorium on Users Under 16 With New Canada Bill

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government introduced legislation that would ban social media for youth under 16 unless companies such as Meta Platforms Inc. and X Corp. meet a set of safety standards.

The bill unveiled Wednesday would also impact artificial intelligence chatbots, though they wouldn’t face a ban on youth users. Firms must mitigate the risk of the chatbot communicating harmful content and be transparent about their reporting thresholds in crisis situations.
