Nvidia Corporation is partnering with Abridge, an AI startup automating doctors' notes, to develop an AI model made for the healthcare sector, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing Nvidia's vice president of healthcare, Kimberly Powell.
"There’s an opportunity now to take these models and adapt them with this clinical intelligence at a much earlier stage of model development," Powell said, adding that the model will be trained using Nvidia's suite of open models, Nemotron. The model will be developed for clinical conversations and integrated into Abridge’s platform to enhance functions such as clinical decision support and documentation.
The Nvidia-backed startup, which was founded in 2018, is valued at $5.3 billion after raising $300 million in funding last year. The company's director of applied science, David Liang, stated that the new AI model is expected to be ready for use later this year.
