Estonian Minister of Defense Hanno Pevkur stated at a press conference on Tuesday that he spoke with his Ukrainian counterpart in order to clarify that Estonia did not "grant permission [to the country] to use its airspace" for strikes.
His comments come after an incident that took place in southern Estonia. A NATO aircraft managed to intercept a drone that appeared over Lake Vortsjarv. Pevkur revealed that the unmanned aerial vehicle was likely from Ukraine and was likely targetting north western parts of Russia.
"We received advance information from our Latvian colleagues, and our radar also detected a drone moving into southern Estonia," he said, adding that all necessary measures were taken.
