EasyJet plc announced on Friday that it reached an agreement in principle with Apollo Global Management Inc.'s Apollo Management X L.P. on the latter's proposed acquisition of the low-cost airline.
According to easyJet's official statement, the two sides agreed that Apollo's proposed cash offer would be £5.7 billion. EasyJet's stockholders would receive £7.15 per easyJet share. To prove its intent, Apollo agreed that the tentative deal would raise easyJet's share price by 81% to the £3.94 level they had in May and by 22% above their four-year peak.
EasyJet added that, if the deal were reached, it would be funded by a combination of committed equity and debt facilities.
